The ARP9 is an excellent gun with one irritating compromise: there is barely any space behind the receiver. Fit a LiPo big enough for a full day and there is nowhere left for the MOSFET, the fuse and the cabling, so everything gets crammed in and bent sharply — which weakens the circuit over time rather than all at once. That is the problem this part exists to solve.
It extends the rear of the gun to take a battery up to roughly 152 by 19.5 by 11.75 millimetres, which is a genuine full-size stick rather than the stubby packs the stock cavity limits you to. For anyone running a drum magazine in a support role, that extra capacity is the difference between one battery for the day and three.
The second benefit is one you feel rather than measure. The unit clamps down onto the two metal rails at the back of the receiver, which removes the wobble those rails have on their own. The gun is no longer than it was and still fits a CQB loadout; it just stops rattling.

Good to know before you buy
It does not fit the 2.0 guns. Airtech are explicit: the ARP 9 2.0 and ARP 556 2.0 are a different rear end and this will not go on them. Check which generation you have before ordering, and ask us if the box is long gone.
Buy the battery at the same time. The whole point is a bigger pack, and the size limit is about 152mm long. Measure what you are planning to use against that figure — packs are in our battery section.
Tidy the wiring while it is open. You are fitting this because the MOSFET and cables had nowhere to go, so take the two minutes to route them properly in the new space rather than pushing the same bundle backwards.
Frequently asked questions
Will it make the gun longer?
Airtech state the ARP9 and 556 stay just as compact once installed, which is why it suits CQB use. It fills the space behind the receiver rather than extending past it.
Does it fit the CM16 Raider L 2.0 E?
Yes, Airtech list that rifle as compatible as well. It does not fit the ARP 2.0 guns.
Is a battery included?
No. This is the extension housing. Pick a pack that fits inside roughly 152 by 19.5 by 11.75mm and tell us if you want a recommendation.
Does it change the point of balance?
Slightly rearward, with a bigger battery in it, which most people find helps a short gun. The bigger change is that the rear rails stop moving.
